Dress: TJ Maxx. Blazer: H&M. Wedges: Aldo. Purse: Target.

Today was insanely hot, so to go with this summery weather I wore bright colors and clean, modern lines. The look hits some key trends this spring–lucite heels and cutouts–paired with bursts of color for an overall “Kate Spade preppy” feel.

Top, Jeans, and Purse: Target. Vest: H&M. Flats and Accessories: Forever 21.

Hi everyone–long time! My photographer (boyfriend) was out of town last week and sadly I wasn’t able to take any photos. I’m back in action now, though, so get ready for more bright, springy posts to come!

A few years back I was obsessed with the floral trend, but lately I’ve been put off by its overtly girly look. However, recently I’ve come to love it again–especially on pants!–but this time I’m wearing the trend in more of an urban, edgy style rather than the youthful, girly look of my past. I like to think it’s more sophisticated and college-appropriate.

Coat and Floral Tank: Target. Cardigan: Ralph Lauren. Jeans: Old Navy. Booties and Socks: American Eagle Outfitters. Belt and Jewelry: vintage. Aviators: H&M.

This time of the year can be tricky for me because it’s nowhere near jacket-free weather, but all the stores are stocked with so many cute spring things–pastels, florals, floaty tops and strappy wedges–and I’m a sucker for all of them! So I have to make due in the meantime by layering florals with darker pieces and heavier layers, like I’ve done here. Even though today was gray and nasty out, I wore my new gold-rimmed aviators anyway. I think they add a cool vibe and a finishing touch to just about any outfit. How do you dress for transitioning between seasons? Let me know! 🙂

Winter Brights

Blazer and Boots: H&M. Shirt: thrifted. Blouse (underneath): Target. Skirt and Coat: Forever 21. Tights: Express. Backpack: Urban Outfitters.

Today was brisk and sunny–perfect for wearing some bright colors after almost a week of gray skys and below freezing temperatures. I love the combination of teal and coral. Although these are summery colors, layered up with tights and boots they work for winter. Any thoughts?

Have a great week everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!

Tribal on Edge

Leather jacket and scarf: TJ Maxx. Blazer, Pants, Belt and Jewelry: Forever 21. Top: thrifted. Boots: Gojane.com. Bag: Urban Outfitters.

Today I styled my outfit around my new, tribal print boots from Go Jane. I started with a black base, and added a top with tribal details. The red and teal colors of my blazer, socks and scarf match colors in the boots, and add some brightness to an otherwise dark, edgy look. To play up the edgy-ness, I added one of my favorite leather jackets, a studded belt and silver jewelry. I think it’s a rather unexpected combination, but I like how it turned out! Let me know what you think.
