Top, Blazer, Pants and Jewelry: Forever 21. Top (under): H&M. Heels: Payless. Bag: vintage.

Today was gorgeous and mild–perfect for shooting next to the water. This outfit is a prime example of using inexpensive items that look pricier than they are to create a look that’s chic, trendy and perfect for spring. When I first eyed this palm tree printed high-low top in the store, I thought, “What the hell would I do with that?!”, but I’ve found it’s those types of pieces that make the biggest statement and can really pull an outfit together in an eye-catching, distinctive way. To match the top I paired a sleeveless button-down sundress, which I left open to even out the proportions of the outfit. I added simple black cords, then a healthy dose of white with the collarless blazer and sandals. I finished with black and gold accessories for a more glamorous feel.

‘Til next time,
Laura

While perusing through my closet trying to come up with a new and exciting outfit to blog, it hit me that I hadn’t yet styled an outfit with one of my all-time favorite combinations–leopard print and red. The iconic print adds a dose of glamour to any outfit, and paired with a color as saturated and bold as red it looks stunning. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to break out the booties until next fall, but the weather has been disappointingly rainy and cold since I got home. The upside of this is I’m able to wear boots, tights and fur at the end of May! Hope you like.

Coat and Floral Tank: Target. Cardigan: Ralph Lauren. Jeans: Old Navy. Booties and Socks: American Eagle Outfitters. Belt and Jewelry: vintage. Aviators: H&M.

This time of the year can be tricky for me because it’s nowhere near jacket-free weather, but all the stores are stocked with so many cute spring things–pastels, florals, floaty tops and strappy wedges–and I’m a sucker for all of them! So I have to make due in the meantime by layering florals with darker pieces and heavier layers, like I’ve done here. Even though today was gray and nasty out, I wore my new gold-rimmed aviators anyway. I think they add a cool vibe and a finishing touch to just about any outfit. How do you dress for transitioning between seasons? Let me know! 🙂

Sweater: H&M. Dress (under): Urban Outfitters. Jacket: Old Navy. Oxfords: gojane.com. Jewelry: Forever 21.

Amid the stress of midterms, I found time to create this post! I’m already in the mindset for spring, which is shown here by my floral dress, peach sweater and cropped trench. My enthusiasm may be a little premature, however. There is supposedly a snow storm coming tonight! Perhaps a snowy post is to come. Until then!

Winter Brights

Blazer and Boots: H&M. Shirt: thrifted. Blouse (underneath): Target. Skirt and Coat: Forever 21. Tights: Express. Backpack: Urban Outfitters.

Today was brisk and sunny–perfect for wearing some bright colors after almost a week of gray skys and below freezing temperatures. I love the combination of teal and coral. Although these are summery colors, layered up with tights and boots they work for winter. Any thoughts?

Have a great week everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!

Today I arrived in DC after a long, relaxing break at home. I was immediately surprised when I stepped outside of Reagan Airport to find clear skys and mid-50s weather. It was a good 20 degrees warmer than Maine! The gorgeous weather had me itching for spring, which is reflected in my bright magenta dress, and bare arms and legs. Is anyone else ready for winter to be over?

Coat and Sweater: H&M, Skirt and Boots: Forever 21, Jewelry: Claires

I’ve been really into fur lately, so when I found this gigantic faux fur coat from H&M on sale for $20, I had to get it! The leopard skirt plays nicely with the fur and the peachy color of the sweater. I just purchased the boots (on sale for around $16), and I love them already. Paired with opaque tights, they make my legs look miles long. I normally am not a fan of mixing black and brown in an outfit, but because the skirt has both hues, it works! This is one of many reasons I love leopard print. Another reason is I have a thing for cats. Whether they’re big and wild, or small and fluffy like Teddy above, I love them!

Sweater: H&M. Skirt: Urban Outfitters (now on major sale!). Jacket: JouJou via TJ Maxx. Sweatshirt, Boots, and Necklace: Forever 21. Bag: Emilie M via TJ Maxx.

Welcome to my blog! My beau and I went out for brunch today and I decided to dress up a bit. The sweater, skirt and boots are all recent purchases. I love the mix of this fur-like thready sweater with the skirt’s accordion pleats. Let me know what you think!
