Top, Jeans, and Purse: Target. Vest: H&M. Flats and Accessories: Forever 21.

Hi everyone–long time! My photographer (boyfriend) was out of town last week and sadly I wasn’t able to take any photos. I’m back in action now, though, so get ready for more bright, springy posts to come!

A few years back I was obsessed with the floral trend, but lately I’ve been put off by its overtly girly look. However, recently I’ve come to love it again–especially on pants!–but this time I’m wearing the trend in more of an urban, edgy style rather than the youthful, girly look of my past. I like to think it’s more sophisticated and college-appropriate.

Thanks for stopping by,
Laura

Coat and Floral Tank: Target. Cardigan: Ralph Lauren. Jeans: Old Navy. Booties and Socks: American Eagle Outfitters. Belt and Jewelry: vintage. Aviators: H&M.

This time of the year can be tricky for me because it’s nowhere near jacket-free weather, but all the stores are stocked with so many cute spring things–pastels, florals, floaty tops and strappy wedges–and I’m a sucker for all of them! So I have to make due in the meantime by layering florals with darker pieces and heavier layers, like I’ve done here. Even though today was gray and nasty out, I wore my new gold-rimmed aviators anyway. I think they add a cool vibe and a finishing touch to just about any outfit. How do you dress for transitioning between seasons? Let me know! 🙂

Coat: a boutique in Montreal. Top: Urban Outfitters. Jeans and Beanie: Forever 21. Booties: Chinese Laundry.

Hey everyone! I’m currently relaxing at home in Maine. Although this isn’t an ideal place for spring break, it’s a nice getaway from the stress of school and work. Pretty much no one here dresses up, especially during our unforgiving winters, so my outfit reflects typical Brunswick Maine style: a big coat, hat, and plaid flannel. Hope your week is going well!

Til next time,
Laura

Tank: H&M. Shirt: thrifted. Jacket (under): PacSun. Leather jacket: TJ Maxx. Jeans: Charlotte Russe. Boots: Spring. Jewelry: Forever 21.

After a week of studying hard and being a good student, I was ready to break out the badass as a celebratory start to spring break. The skeleton tank, what I like to call my “grave-stomping” boots, and of course, a leather jacket, give this look just enough edge. The coffee and cigarette only heighten the punky I-don’t-care vibe. (Although, I will note I’m not a smoker!) Lastly, the playground seemed to be a great juxtaposition–child play plus teenage delinquency. Thoughts?

When in doubt, I always pair up something printed, something colored, and something neutral. I suppose it’s my “fashion formula”. It’s just enough to make an outfit interesting without being overdone. I particularly like my printed tank (it has wild cats on it!)

In other news, today marks the 1 month anniversary of my blog! I would like to thank my subscribers, anyone who’s taken the time to leave a comment or like a post, and those who stop by just to look from time to time. I really appreciate the support. Here’s to many more months!

Happy hump day!

Rose Among Thorns

Jacket: Urban Behavior. Shirt: Ralph Lauren. Skirt: H&M. Wedges: BCBG. Jewelry: Forever 21.

Today was shockingly warm–around 70 degrees–here in the District, which was a pleasant surprise and a great excuse to give a preview of my summer style: bright colors and patterns, strappy wedges, and loose, low-maintenance tops. I came across this ‘Rose’ graffiti a few days ago and thought it would be a perfect backdrop; today was undoubtably a rose among cold, gray, wintery days. Hope the weather is as beautiful wherever you may be!

Vest, Scarf, Hat and Belt: Forever 21. Sweater, Coat and Gloves: H&M. Jeans: Old Navy. Booties: Gojane.com. Bag: Urban Outfitters.

Today was the coldest I’ve ever experienced in DC, so I bundled up in winter essentials reminiscent of the Maine wilderness, which is where I spent many chilly months exploring as a kid. The fur, plaid, and LL Bean Duck Boot inspired heels remind me of how great my childhood was, and how one day (not anytime TOO soon) I would like to live in Maine again.

I would also like to give special thanks to Luke, my boyfriend, who is responsible for almost all of the photographs on my blog. I couldn’t do it without him. Happy 6 months baby!

As always, thanks for reading!

Coat and Cardigan: H&M. Shirt, Booties and Beanie: Forever 21. Jeans: Old Navy. Backpack: Amerileather. Belt: Abercrombie

It’s been raining for a few days now and I’m sick of it! Today I went to class and ran errands, so I kept it simple with I comfy, winter neutrals, but added some sparkle with my sequin top.
